It is an alternative to Ablative Laser Skin Resurfacing, which literally involves burning the superficial layer of the skin, resulting in redness, swelling, discomfort and down time (recovery or healing time) of 6 weeks or more. Many clients find the recovery time unsatisfactory and a gross infringement to their lifestyle, despite the treatment giving outstanding results.

 ■ Skin Resurfacing by Skin needling (collagen induction therapy) is our alternative to ABLATIVE LASER Skin Resurfacing. It is more akin to Fraxel laser resurfacing it is just as effective at a fraction of the cost.

 ■ It must be emphasised that the Advanced Laser Treatments we are offering are NON ABLATIVE (leaves the surface of the skin unchanged) and have minimal down time.

What is collagen induction therapy ?

It is a procedure performed by our Aesthetic Physician Dr S R Bassi and involves an advanced needling of the skin technique. This procedure has created great interest in the community because of its:

What conditions can it treat ?

 ● Softening of stretch marks, surgical scars and chicken pox scars.

How does it work ?

The medical needling instrument is a sterile roller, which is rolled across the skin causing a numerous micropunctures to the lower layers of the skin, these stimulates the body to produce it own collagen. Clinical studies show that there is a 400% increase in the deposition of collagen. The eventual process results in tight skin, less lines and wrinkles with a softening and reduction in scarring. The skin also becomes thicker.

Is it painful ?

A topical anaesthetic cream is applied before the procedure, also a local anaesthetic injection can be given to minimise any potential discomfort.

Pre and post operative skin needling care

The skin needs to be prepared for 6 weeks by specially designed skin care products and these have to be used regularly after the procedure, this ensures the best possible result with fast recovery.

How often ?

The procedure needs to be repeated every 8 to 12 weeks.

Optimal results are achieved after 4-6 sessions.

How long do the effects last ?

Clinical experience has shown results are not temporary, but endure for many years (2- 3 years).
