What is radio surgery mole removal technology?This is Selston Cosmetic Clinic’s preferred method of mole removal. It involves using high frequency radio waves; these generate heat which vaporise the moles. The heat that is generated is much less than that produced by electrocautery or any other conventional methods; this greatly reduces the tendency for the skin to scar after the procedure. Moles - general Information♦ Moles can have different appearances. They can be flat or raised; they may look like dark brown spots and also can be yellow or blue, Some types can erupt as a result of persistent sunlight exposure. ♦ They can appear anywhere on the skin especially on the face, arms and neck. ♦ Generally brown moles which are evenly pigmented; with a regular out line, do not need to cause any concern. ♦ Common moles on the face are usually lightly pigmented, often have a few hairs arising from them and are usually benign and should cause no worry! Mole Removal Consultation■ A clinical history will be taken by our experienced cosmetic physician Dr. Bassi. ■ The lesion will be examined and if required the mole will be analyzed using a state of the art skin scanner system. ■ The method of mole removal will be recommended and discussed. ■ If clinically it is deemed necessary, the mole can be excised and sent for histology: Overview of: Mole Removal methodsRadio frequency Mole Removal: As outlined above, but preferred method of choice. Laser Mole Removal: Our state of the art laser system can also remove simple compound naevi (birthmark/mole) on the face; giving excellent cosmetic results with negligible scarring or marks. Electro Cautery: A popular method used, by many clinics, it is a simple, inexpensive procedure, however there is a tendency to have minimal scarring post treatment. The wound usually develops a scab which falls off 7-10 days later and the area will be pink and this will fade with time. Cryotherapy (freezing) Mole Removal: Liquid nitrogen treatment is still used to remove moles. The liquid nitrogen destroys cell tissue and will eventually eliminate the mole. The procedure can be painful and may need multiple treatments. In our experience this is not very effective.
