3rd Generation FUE Hair Transplant Technique

We introduce the: 3rd GENERATION FUE Hair Transplant Technique with 100% Results Guaranteed

  • No Stitches! No Scars! No Pain!
  • Natural looking results. Your hair is transplanted to areas where you require thickening or regrowth.
  • Long lasting results. This hair restoration technique precisely targets and transplants only strong, healthy hair follicles which are not sensitive to testosterone. This results in your hair loss being restored permanently.
  • It is a minimally invasive treatment. Custom made microsurgical tools are used by the specialist hair transplant surgeons to ensure a single minimally invasive procedure without unsightly scarring.
  • Advanced diagnosis. Prior to the procedure, computerized digital scanning is used to identify the strongest donor follicles and to protect future hair loss.
  • Complete care programme. From initial consultation and diagnosis by Dr. Bassi, procedure by Dr. Raghu Reddy, easy after care ... a complete service at Selston Cosmetic Clinic.

What is the FUE Hair Transplant Procedure?

The latest hair restoration techniques involve 2 steps:

Hair Extraction using Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is used at Selston Cosmetic Clinic

  • This technique does not require a donor area. The hair follicles are instead directly extracted one by one using custom made, precise micro-surgical tools which are less than a millimeter in diameter.
  • Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is simple and painless.
  • The donor area heals within 5 days.
  • There is no risk of nerve damage.
  • Hair transplantation/restoration into the bald / thinning area.

Hair Restoration

  • Follicle Unit Transplantation (FUT) is the hair restoration procedure when extracted hair is transplanted into the bald or thinning areas in their naturally occurring groups of 1 to 4 hairs.
  • Single hairs are used for the hairline and groups of 2/3/4 for density behind the hair line.
  • Each follicular unit has to be extracted and transplanted with its sebaceous glands, nerve and blood supply.
  • The skin plug or otherwise referred to as the follicular unit contains, in this case, a single hair; it is complete with its neurovascular bundle and sebaceous gland, which must be meticulously removed and transplanted by the hair surgeon, this is an essential part of the Third Generation FUE hair transplantation technique.

The 3rd GENERATION FUE Hair Transplant Technique at Selston Cosmetic Clinic

  • Computer digital scanning is used to identify the strongest donor follicles, prior to the procedure and this is to protect future hair loss.
  • Individual hair follicles are removed separately using the micro extractor by the experienced hair transplant surgeon wearing high magnification loupes glasses.
  • The specific hair follicles are placed meticulously into zones of hair loss using the patented implanter pen. The experienced hair transplant doctors use this precision implement to implant the hair to imitate the angle and direction of growth of each person's original hair which is unique to them.
  • Hair extraction is simple, painless and the donor area heals within 5 days.
  • No risk of nerve damage (numbness or decreased sensation) as no scalpels or stitches are used.
  • New hair grows naturally in its new location permanently.
  • Hair regrowth is usually seen after 16 weeks.
  • 3,000-5,000 hairs can be extracted/ implanted per day.
  • Bandaging is not necessary after the procedure. Clients leave the clinic as they enter.

Frequently Asked Questions

In our opinion the strip surgery method will become an outdated method.

The FUE method requires a highly experiences hair transplant doctor to extract the hair follicles undamaged, it is labour intensive, this is why the success of this procedure is dependent on the skill and patience of the hair transplant surgeon. It is considered the superior method of extraction.

  • On your arrival at Selston Cosmetic Clinic, your hair transplant team will review your procedure consent form with you, ensure all relevant paperwork is completed and answer any questions you may have.
  • During your initial consultation, you will have decided where you want your new hairline to come, and it will have been marked and photographed. Your consultant will now mark your scalp to define the extent of the procedure, and will discuss any concerns you may have.
  • You will now be offered the option of a sedative, such as Valium, to relax you before the start of your Procedure. You can also choose to listen to music, to watch movies, or to just chat with staff during the procedure.
  • A local anaesthetic is now applied around the perimeter of the scalp. Once the scalp is entirely numb, the rest of your Procedure is completely painless. Should your procedure be an extensive one, lasting more than 5-6 hours, an additional anaesthetic will be applied before the first one wears off.

Preparations to make up to 2 weeks before your 3rd GENERATION Hair Transplant Procedure

  • Please avoid taking Aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory medications during the two weeks prior to your procedure as these may increase bleeding.
  • Please avoid taking vitamins B or E (including multi-vitamins) during the week before your procedure as these may increase bleeding.
  • The presence of alcohol in the blood may increase bleeding, so please avoid drinking alcohol for at least three days prior to your Hair Transplant Procedure.
  • Update us as to any medications you are currently taking on a regular basis which you were not taking at the time of your initial consultation. Our staff will ask you for these details.
  • If you are taking medications, such as blood pressure medicine, you should continue to take it as prescribed right up to and including the day of your procedure.
  • You should continue taking prescribed medications - such as those for blood pressure - right up to, and on, the day of your Hair Transplant Procedure.
  • Shower and wash your hair thoroughly using your regular shampoo. Do not apply sprays, gels, or any other styling products to your hair. If you wear a hair system, please remove it before shampooing and do not wear again until after your procedure.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing and a front-fastening top, not one you pull over your head - this will prevent your transplanted hair becoming dislodged immediately after your Hair Transplant Procedure .
  • Avoid all caffeinated beverages such as coffee, throughout the day, as these may increase your sensitivity to medications used during the procedure.
  • Otherwise, eat breakfast as normal. Subject to the time of your Hair Transplant Procedure, we will provide you with lunch and snacks. Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs.
  • Hair growth usually starts around 16 weeks
  • After the procedure there is minimal swelling over the removal and transplanted areas, this settles within 7 days, you are given prophylactic medication which help to reduce this.
  • A course of prophylactic antibiotics need to be taken post procedure
  • You can return to graded sporting activities after 1 week ie : jogging, gymn, weight training etc.
  • Avoid showering for 4 days ... then daily low pressure showers are advised.
  • You should sleep on your back for 4 days ... the number of pillows needed is what you are normally comfortable with.

At any one time because of the hair growth cycle, 90% of the hair are in the anagen or growth phase and 10% in the catagen or rest phase, at your 10 month review, your head will be scanned and if less than 90% of your new hair are not growing ... these will be replaced free of charge with new follicular units using this technique ... free of charge.

  • Strip surgery hair removal - Not offered at Selston as it is outdated.
  • Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
  • This is an invasive procedure, where a long strip of hair bearing scalp skin measuring around 20-25cm in length,1cm-2.5cm in width
  • Is removed from the donor area (usually the back of the head) using a scalpel. The donor area is stitched and subsequently 4 weeks are required for full healing. In order to avoid stretching of the donor scar, 2 layers of stitches must be used and left in the skin for 2 weeks.
  • Post operatively, clients may complain of scalp numbness for many months and sometimes permanently as the scalpel cuts through skin, nerves and blood vessels when extracting the strip from the back of the head:
  • It is invasive surgery.
  • There is a risk of developing scarring over the strip extraction site.
  • There is possibility of numbness or decreased sensation over the strip extraction site
  • The option of a short haircut is gone forever due to a scar or line always being visible at the back of the head.
  • There is a possibility of suture scars, keloid scars, staple scars and stretch back tension scars.
  • Clients are unable to play sports or weight train for 4 weeks.
